What a joke...
Read this... Deer hunting may put men's hearts at risk
Whats pathetic is all 25 hunters in the study were "at risk"... Not to mention 25 is a statistically insignificant sample.

I am back from a long Hiatus... or whatever.
Take care.

Liers figure.... Again.
The study is laughable. It's bull shit.
Obviously they had an agenda.. To eliminate hunting, and then guns.
25 guys with heart problems to begin with is not a study, it's patient monitoring. And, it proves nothing, except that guys with heart peoblems can have a problem with exertion.
But, to tie it to hunting is shear bull shit.. I object!!

Yes a joke . Stress on the heart can be caused by many other things like shoveling snow ! thumbdown

Hell, I get a dangerously high heart rate just seeing the first deer of the year. If you have heart disease, anything physical could be a factor. They didn't ask if the guys liked the hunting more than the treadmill.

Let's see...die on a treadmill, or die hunting deer...not much choice since we all have to go sometime.

Next question they didn't ask....was sex more dangerous to their heart rate than hunting? Bet that would not get published! Smiler

"Of the 25 hunters, 17 had established coronary heart disease, while the rest had risk factors such as being overweight, smoking or having high blood pressure or cholesterol."

I suspect hunting, and walking over rough terrain would help on the weight issue.
I always thought venison were low on cholesterol...

I read somewhere that if you are married and die of a heart attack while having sex, you probably are"nt having sex with your wife.
Maybe we should avoid all kinds of excitment and just sit quietly while the lefty liberals do all the thinking for us!

Reading the study was probably worse for my heart than hunting has ever been.

I always wondered why old guys would die draging out a buck when they know better.

But when one thinks about what a better way to go then doing something you love in some place you love. So maybe they start draging thinking oh well.

They did not say a thing about all the quality nap time I get when I am in the woods.

Well hell, there are worse ways to go you know. If my time was up, I'd just as soon end it doing something I really enjoyed like dragging a monster buck through the woods than lying in a hospital bed somewhere. Not to mention, I'd really rather be remembered for hunting than a car accident, etc.

I wouldn't be so fast to call them liars and call the article a joke. Not over exerting yourself, at anything, when you have a bad ticker is just common sense.

Last fall my father and I had to cut our pheasant hunting short because he wasn't feeling well. A few hours later he was in the hospital after suffering a mild heart attack.

I think the article is just pointing out that most people might not understand the workout hunting can be.

On a side note if you are in the field and need frequent breaks, feel a little faint and are suffering from heart burn like symptoms get to a hospital ASAP.

Geoff, as a rule, those symtoms don't suddenly appear on a hunting trip. You've had them for a while. By any road that's why an old fart that is gonna engage in any unusual activity should have a check up before starting. Also, if it is a known condition, the old fart should take proper precautions and know his limits. I'm an old fart and I know what I'm talking about. I see no reason, in moderation, why I can't do SOME of what I like, I just know I can't do it all anymore. And if I croak, better to go with your boots on than in a nursing home scairt to get out of arms reach of your meds. Big Grin

Liberal dogma puts my heart at risk. That is; the desire to become "heartless".
