I've mentioned this to several clients that have a lot to do with SCI, one of which is a former Weatherby Award winner, and they all basically say good luck with that.

I'm not an "SCI guy" and don't give a rats ass about the organization. The fact that SCI will still allow somebody like Jeff Blair to be associated with them tells me all I need to know about them.

Yowza - I've never read this thread, because it had nothing to do with me and I will never use a guide, outfitter or agent (absolutely no offense to the ethical guides, outfits and agents, out there, it's just a personal preference). After reading it, all I can say is THANK GOD I am a Montanan and can hunt without worrying about things like this.

It seems clear to me (and I could be wrong) that Larry's shuck-and-jive was probably an attempt to pay medical (or possibly legal) bills, and this is why the money trail seems to have stopped with him. I am absolutely not excusing it - he should be in jail for what he evidently did - but it is my hypothesis. Desperate people can and will do desperate things.

Did anyone EVER track down the "Mexican landowners?"

As for Blair - I am surprised he is still in business at all - anyone who has such a rinky-dink, Mickey-Mouse operation and practices service-based business like this ought to be run out on a rail after being tarred and feathered. His claims of "no gambles" and so forth, stating unequivocally that there won't be any troubles, are basis enough, in my mind, to nail him for false advertising at the least. There is ample evidence to show that anything with him connected to it is a huge gamble fraught with trouble. Someone ought to take action against him and force him to remove such language from his 1996-era website.

Anyway, my thanks to the gents who are keeping this alive - I hope that your action has the intended effect, butcause it couldn't happen to a nicer pair of crooks.

If you frequent the African Hunting Forum, you will see that we have some shady outfitters and PHs operating in Africa too.

But, one cannot hunt in Africa without having a guide, except in very few countries.

I have been hunting in Africa for more than 3o years, always with a guide.

But, all the different outfitters I have been with have been very honest, and there was no question about anything being shady in their operations.

In fact, I have hunted with all of them more than once.

I have learnt something though, I will not hunt with ANY PH who has been awarded an SCI PH of The Year Award.

Many of them have turned out to be crooks. And have cheated many clients, much worse than Blaire has done.

And SCI did absolutely nothing to help the clients.

Saeed - Your comments above are the same impression I got after reading the entire thread. I really feel bad for the ethical and honest folks out there, trying to make a living and provide good services to hunters.

SCI 2014 Convention. Jeff Blair had a 3-space booth with NO customers when I passed by a time or to. This kinda says it all for those folks.

FWIW - SCI is not the "booth police" unless someone has been proven guilty in a court of law. I don't think SCI should let this guy in, but until proven in Court that he is the scum we all know, moot point I guess.
