Big Elk For Kstephens
Having been around here awhile, I decided I really should learn to post pics here, so I opened a PhotoBucket thingy.

This is an Elk I helped a friend get last year. I spotted it 2nd day of the season and again a week later. He was able to get a 150 yd shot on it with all those rocks to hide in. Here he is without the camera.

jjmp,

I didn't have a Bull license, so I couldn't shoot him anyway. The day after I first saw this bull, I took my buddy and dropped him off where he could hunt into the wind to the area he had been. Nothing that day or the rest of the week. On the 9th day of the season we had just glassed an area and I was starting to back the truck, when I caught a glimpse of some brown on a hillside about a mile away. Looked real close and it was two cows --- but ---- in the foreground just behind a little rise I saw his antlers protruding. I told him "that big SOB is with those cows!" We formulated a plan to split sides of the ridge--and the rest is history.
