Not sure, but it appears giving birth to three of these little critters might be a tad on the painful side. I vote for porcupine babies. Whatever pain the mother goes through is just deserts. I have helped to remove quills from the muzzle of several dogs that tangled with them.

Years ago when I hunted BIG GAME in Northern Minnesota we shot these things on sight as there was so many that they was destroying the trees. The state them imported fishers to control them as the fisher is their only enemy. The fisher was able to roll them over and attack their underside and eat them.

Yes Ann.....they are young porcupines.

Ha ha, Vapo, I knew you'd get a rub from my comment. Razzer Cute little buggers but they can really hurt the forest.

Those are hedgehogs...Porcupines have strange tastes .In addition to trees they will eat things with salt such as axe handles .If they find your car they will eat rubber hoses and belts .One friend had his barn eaten , apparently they liked the chemicals from the treated wood !!

Those look like baby albino African dwarf hedgehogs. Pretty popular in the pet trade here in Europe...

Those are definitely hedge hogs. This is a baby porcupine:

as opposed to hedgehogs:

Note the lack of sharp claws on the hedgehog and the blunt nose on the porcupine.
