http://www.freerepublic.com/fo...f-chat/3138088/postsCoyote Attacks Woman Walking Dog in Rockland County ( NY )
NBC 4 New York ^ | Mar 26, 2014
The woman took off her jacket during the attack and used it to try to shield herself against the coyote. She then ran to a neighbor's home for refuge.
The coyote ran into a backyard, where it was shot and killed by an Orangetown police officer, authorities say.
The woman told police the coyote appeared to be more focused on attacking her, not her dog
My friend , in an adjoining county ,called last night saying a deer was chased by either a coyote or dog but two dark to see which.
Ther was a report a couple of years ago about coyote in NY and PA. 20 % had wolf genes based on DNA and photos of the skulls. This explains the 70 lb coyotes we see here.
Walking in the woods ? take your 44 mag but something smaller for the ticks with Lyme ! I wonder if birdshot in the 44 would work for the ticks ?

sdkidahoHow do you pack your 44 in NY?

PhilRI pack mine in a shoulder holster.
6.5 " M29 packed in an old shoulder holster.I find it the most practical ,out of the way , out of the weather.
One thing I have to test is that the strap now rests on my new pacemaker ,[thanks to Mr Lyme ! ] I'll have to pad it.

BTW, in NY state a carried handgun must be concealed .I'm not sure about during hunting .
