ElCaballeroOf your choices I like Petersons. Lately I have been getting the most out of Sports Afield. Maybe it is just because I hadn't gotten it in awhile. It seems that most of them all have the same articles. I used to have four or five subs now just 3 and that will change soon to two.

375hnhOf your list, I like Successful Hunter, I like all the Wolfe publications. I especially like John Barnsness, and his wife. They are both class acts, and not prone to BS. I also like Petersens.

<allen day>'The Hunting Report', 'Safari', and 'Sporting Classics' provide the most information about the things that I really need to know about and understand for the hunting that I undertake.

MARK H. YOUNGRuss,
I'm just not buying much of that stuff anymore. They tend to cover the same subjects over and over. I do get The Hunting Report and I'm signed up with the on line version also. I do find this as a good research tool. I get SAFARI and National Rifleman because I'm a SCI and NRA member but I often do not get around to reading them.

D99I like Sports Afield the best, then Peterson's. Sporting Classics is ok for buying shit I can't afford.
Grays is kind of birdy, and the other two are kind of week.
Both Peterson's and Sports Afield aren't perfect, but they are better than anything else out there. Besides' Craig Boddington writes for both of them.

kudu56I to have noticed an improvement out of Sports Afield, I enjoy it. I actually don't get anything out of any of the publications, I like the product reviews, most of the stories are repeats and the same as the other magazines.

trapntravI really enjoyed the last Sports Afield (Aug.2005 with the Buf. on the cover). It had a lot of good articles on hunting around the world.

yellowstoneI am enjoying AR forum more than anything in recent memory. I learn a lot from the members and can share knowledge. Most of those gun/hunting rags have the same old tired story of "I went here, used this outfitter, had this gear, hunted until the last hour of the last day, had a great time." Ad nauseum-----------Sorry to say, that with a very few notable exceptions, outdoor writers are whores for whatever product some corporation is hawking. It seems every gadget that shows is up is tried out on some hog. Yep, this here new louden boomin schutzen banger shore kilt that pig dead'er 4:00 o'clock! All you fellers be sure and buy one and you'll be a great hunter too. Makes you want to puke.
