NebraskaRe: Spotting scopes and rangefinders
I'd second the Leica but go for the LRF 1200.
I'd also second the Nikon Spotter XL.
Great minds think alike......but I guess we just got lucky.

4bambamTex-
www.natchezss.com has a good deal on the Nikon sporter XL spotting scope 16x47x60 with tri pod and carring case. $470.00 and the Bushnell Range finder 800 for $230.00. Good deals on both, and I paid more than that for mine.

<allen day>Since my favored spotting scopes exceed your price requirements, I won't comment on those.
But with rangefinders, I would most highly recommend the current Leica product. They are superbly accurate, versatile, small, lightweight, efficient, and certain models will even allow you to track a moving target. You can do no better in this department.......
