AZ fall draw results
My luck here at home in AZ is unbelievable this last year. Just drew the 13A rifle tag and still can't believe it. Had my desert sheep tag last year. Drew archery antelope and rifle bull this year. Leaving for the wife's Kaibab bull buffalo hunt in 8 days. This fall is going to be amazing. Good luck to everyone else in the draw!

I drew a rifle Coues tag a Huachuca. Not exactly extraordinary, but nice to have.

Hopefully the piggy tag comes in as well.

It's shaping up to be a real busy fall for sure. Applied for the strip figuring I wouldn't draw with 4 points (I know let the hate begin!)and never even dreamed I'd get a tag. Gotta make the most of it when it happens though. I live just a few hours away so will be hanging cameras after the buffalo hunt. Thankfully have friends that have hunted it a few times in the last couple years and are willing to share info. That Ft Huachuca tag is a good one. Some real good bucks on base. Used to work on base occasionally and saw some real stud clues bucks.

Thanks, it is a two week hunt starts the 2nd week of December. I am going to try and book a camper on base, and a camp ground spot. Wife and kids will probably come, and I'll rent them a car locally. Ought to be a good time.

If there is any part of a lion quota left then I am going to buy a lion tag, and hope for the best. I plan on having a nice week in the camper if nothing else.

Goal is a deer, a few coyotes, a bobcat if they cooperate and a coati.

Real goal is a deer but anything else is a bonus.

I hunted 27 a few times.
What isn't straight up is straight down. Lots of canyons.
There are good game populations, for Arizona.
Most hunters go into the Blue Wilderness.

I just noticed you are from Canada, so I will give a less snide answer.
Unit 27 is very rugged and the elevations are high, areas over 7000'. A lot of hunters go by horseback into the wilderness area, the pack animals allow them to get the deer out in a timely manner.
There s one main paved road running generally north/south, it was formerly Hiway 666. The forest service roads are sometimes maintained and passable in a truck, most smaller roads need four wheel drive.
A guide may be a good idea.

When we lived in AZ my family and I used to hunt unit 27 as much as we could. What Mark Clark wrote was all true. I still have a lot of fond memories of hunting there. It was a long time ago though, the best of luck to you.
