frankgBuckshot in a trukey choke?
Has anybody tried buckshot in a turkey choke for deer? I don't have a full choke for my shotgun and I don't want to buy one if the turkey choke I already have will work just as well. On the other hand I don't want to risk blowing myself up.
Thanks.

Quarter RoundExtra full chokes aren't recommended for buck shot.

frankgI understand they are not recomended. That may be because they never tested them.It may work just fine. I have never tried.

DigitalDanIt may not hurt anything but it will probably screw your pattern up. Try modified or IC for buck shot, especially the larger sizes.

ACRecurveI use the most open choke I have available with buckshot...used some #4 buck in a full choke several years ago and the pattern was over 4 feet at 25 yards. I was told the choke constriction was deforming the pellets and thereby blowing my pattern. Don't know if a buffer would have helped this or not. Last turkey I killed with a shotgun was with #6 shot.

p dog shooterI think you need to pattern it I have a combo gun that well put a mag load of OO into 25 inchs at 40 yards it has a very tight choke. I find mod to full works really well with buck shot.
