handwerkJust do your homework then go to Wyoming for a DIY hunt, you'll have a blast.

Aspen Hill AdventuresI've got a very good outfit I work with in eastern Montana. OTC tags, private land hunting and nice lodging.

Nothing wrong with an outfitter, most particularly if you don't already have tags. If you already have tags, there is nothing wrong with a freelance expedition either, which is my prediliction.

tasunkawitkoi'll echo what tom said; nothing at all wrong with an outfitter, but a DIY hunt in either state would not pose a problem at all.

Check out this link to the outfitter I represent. There is even a chance for a hunt this year if you are interested.

Allan DeGrootI'm reliably informed that there are many areas where they NEVER sell out of OTC tags, I'm personally going to be hunting private property in one of them myself

SevensI did a hunt with Monster Critters Outfitting. The name sounds a bit cheesy, but they live up to it. I shot a 14 incher and another hunter got a 16 incher while I was there.
