Money To the Draws
I was just wondering how much cash $$$$ you guys have put out there or will put on the table in the Western draws. Maybe even the Eastern states too. And do you guys use application services to float your draws?

I'll give my total after a few posts.

(Don't turn this into a NonRes bash. Every state I know of charges the NonRes more to hunt there, public land or private.)

Colorado has about $500 of mine for elk and mule deer.

I'm not griping about the price of tags BUT in this case I didn't even apply for tags -- just preference points to use when I get out of law school in 2008 !

I've put in for a toatl of 6 tags in Colorado. These are all resident fees:

Moose: $203.25
Sheep: $153.25
Elk: $33.25
Deer: $23.25
Bear: $33.25
Antelope: $23.25

Total: $469.50

I expect to draw the elk, deer, and antelope tag. The rest are up in the air and if not drawn will result in refunds.

Toby,

Why unnecessarily put out that much money when it's possible to apply for a maximum of $128.50 or a minimum of $15.00 at the current NR license cost for those three species? -TONY

Tony,

That's the actual money that it takes to have the tags if drawn. Of course, I don't expect to be drawn on everything, especially the sheep tag. But, if drawn, that's the actual money that I will spend.

I understand your post. You're saying actual out of pocket money now vs. the actual money drawn from my credit/debit card if the tag is drawn. I just spoke of the total money at risk.

I'm only in for 80 bucks for deer, elk, and antelope. One day I want to start putting in for a goat tag. My wife has vetoed moose and bear as she thinks they are cute.

Toby,

Okay, we're on the same page then. I was merely looking at the thread title and wondering.

And good luck with the sheep; I've been applying for 35 years. I lack only it and a buff for all 10 AZ big game critters. I never have applied and probaly won't do the buff, even though the Houserock hunt is now for free-roaming ones. -TONY

Well, I won't let my wife read this post.

I am have put or will put around $3,900 on the table this year in 6 states for deer, elk, antelope, and moose. If I do draw them all I will be heading to buy my lotto ticket. All the hunts I go on will be do-it-myself, so hopefully I'll get one or 2.
