They should not have rung the dinner bell.

Firearm shots are more likely call a bear instead of scaring it off.

EXACTLY! I was going to say the very same thing. Grizzlies in Montana, Wyoming and Idaho have become very accustomed to rifle shots meaning dinner.

It would be interesting to know where all those bullets hit the bear and what damage they did.

I was wondering the same thing. Penetration, etc.

Good argument for suppressors. Wink

I would be interested in knowing what that bear squared.

That only seems to a AK thing I do not hear of lower 48 bear hunters talking about what a hide squares.

Lower 48 bear hunters almost always talk about weight, skull size.

Most likely because if you get a bear to a scale it is harder to lie about. Hides can be stretched.

It looks like the age and weight of this bear are both estimates. Unless one actual pulled a tooth and have seen a lot of bears put on scales both can leave a lot of room for error.

A record 51 grizzlies dead or removed from region this year

Headline in today's Daily Inter Lake. Story by Chris Peterson.

10 removed by agency biologists, 36 were human caused, 4 were natural deaths and one was undermined. The greatest spike in deaths was from collisions with vehicles. 17 bears died from rig collisions or the surviving young were moved to zoos.
"Even with these numbers, the population is growing."

The article does not mention that 2018 also had numerous bear attacks.
