For all my carnivore loving buddies on AR...(pics)
Hello folks! I know how much carnivores are appreciated here amongst the group. Here is one of 4 males born about 8 weeks ago......

And, no, I did not strangle him...just put a radio collar on him and put him back in the den.....

How big are they now? At that age they look about the size of a house cat.

That's a cool pic. Do the collars stretch or do you have to recapture and put on bigger ones? As fast as they grow you'd be catching them pretty often early on. Nate

He's adorable. That's surprising he's tame enough to pick up at that size. I have picked up feral house cat kittens that were still very small and they would spit and hiss and try to bite like hell.

I would imagine you had to tranquilize the mom to get that close to her kittens... right?

mho: Yes, that is a young male cougar.

Aspen Hill Adventures: They are 8 weeks old, that photo was taken Saturday morning in NE Washington. I deer hunted in the morning and then helped collar these guys, then raced back to Republic to do the evening hunt.

BigNate: The collars do stretch and will fall off if we are unable to recapture them, they will be recollared in about 9 months....

adrook: They are pretyy pissed off when we get them but the photo was caught in just the right moment, he was hissing and clawing most of the time.

brianbo: NO, darting the mother is not necessary, she just circles around us at about 50-70 yards and watches intently.....

akperrydog: I am at WSU in grad school but graduated from UI......go Vandals!
