RMillerOpening day for me tomorrow
Got my tags today and will head out tomorrow after work.
I am spazzed out excited tonight.
Last Saturday was opening day and I did get out to scout after work last saturday. There were a few hunters out but less than I thought Id see. Most trailheads had campers or hunting rigs but I did find a couple walking trails that were empty. One of them I had to stop to let 5 whitetail does go across the road and I took pics of them while they stood next to the road and then went up the trail.
I plan on going up the trail I saw the deer on.
Elk is either sex and deer is buck only for Mulies and either sex for whitetails. Got a b tag for whitetails does also.
Dont remember being this excited before a trip in a long time. Got my gear ready sleeping bag tent ect. Woot!! now see if I can sleep at all tonight haha.

DesertRamGood luck sir!
Muzzleloader deer in the desert for me tomorrow. Odds are it'll be a camping trip with a gun, but what the heck, at least it's time afield.

RMillerSo it did end up being a camping trip with a gun but I had a blast.
Hiked in 2 1/2 hours the first evening and camped. The next day made a long roundabout hike back to the car. Slept in the car the second night and went up a different trail this morning.
I saw lots of deer tracks and a few elk tracks so I was always looking out for something. It had snowed last Sunday for the first time so all the tracks were made since then.
I got to within 60 yards or so of all 8 Mulie does I saw. Of course Mulie does are the only thing not legal HAHA.
Froze my behind off the first night and took a game bag and wrapped up in it inside my sleeping bag which warmed me up just enough to get some sleep.

Cant wait to get out next weekend

vapodogI use the term....."had a wilderness experience"!
If you also go fishing you can have a lot of wilderness experiences.

So far in North America I've taken four guided (paid) and horseback or float plane "wilderness experiences".....never fired a shot on any of them. Guess you found a lot less costly way of doing it!

ted thornI know the feeling. I get excited as seasons get close. Rifle season in Missouri is less than two weeks away. I will be a mess the night before opener.
