SevenxbjtCalifornia applications due 6/2
Filled out my apps for elk, antelope and sheep last night. Premium deer too. The deadline is June 2nd, so if anyone is applying for sheep or tule elk etc. Don't lose track of time it's already the 18th. Who else here applies for anything in California by the way?

CA Safari HunterGood luck drawing a Tule Tag. My family and I (and everyone I know) have been putting in for these tags for years. We all have max points and I have never met a person that has ever been lucky enough to draw one. I switched over a few years ago and started putting in for a Tule cow tag. I still cant draw one.
But I can drive down the street and take a couple pics. I borrowed a 400 mm lens and took a couple in March. I plan on going back next month and check out the growth. There are 4 that pretty much stay together and hang out far a way from the cows and others.

SevenxbjtI agree I wouldn't hold my breath. Oddly enough though, I know a pair of guys from our little town (8000), who have drawn tule elk bull tags. Luck of the draw I guess once you are max points.

Anyone else think CA was a little slow to get those applications out this year? Seems like every other state has already told hunters if they got a tag or not and CA hasn't even drawn!
Due to time constraints, I put in for preference points this year on elk, antelope, and bighorn.

CA Safari HunterI think we set a record this year. Booklets were mailed out 2 weeks before the deadline for the draw. I went to WallyWorld on the 13th to buy my license, and they didn’t have them yet.
And the state that gave birth to the Internet and home of Silicon Valley, doest even have a online system…
Good luck to all that put in. I have a feeling a lot of people are going to miss the deadline, making it easier to draw a X zone tag.

I too found this a bit mystifying, but I found an easier option. The CA DFG website has a Hunting License/Special Big Game Tags combo application form you can print off and mail in. Saved me the trouble of having to find a hunting license and fill out 3 additional forms afterward for each tag.
Online sure would be nice though.

JBoutfishnMailed in the applications last week. Rocky Mountain Elk, max points North East zone, Antelope 4 points Lassen early season, and since I have no points for deer I put in for the C zone.
Looks like if I want to hunt around home I will have to use my 1st deer application for the C zone since the C, and a couple of D zone are now classified as premium along with the X zones.
