What to do in Vegas
I have to travel to Vegas in a couple of weeks for a work related event. As I have never been there before I am arriving four days earlier than needed. I'm not much of a big city boy but thought I would find some sports stores to spend too much time and dollars in as well as getting out of town to look at the desert.
I don't suppose there is any hunting to be had is there ????
Any other suggestions that I could follow up ?
Thanks.

- Golf in the desert if you enjoy Golf.

- Take a guided trip to Lake Meade and Hoover Dam.

- Watch a Cirque-du-soleil show. I highly recommend Mystere (at Treasure Island), O (at Bellagio).

- If a beautiful woman approaches you make sure "she" does not have an Adam's Apple.

Gun Control - A theory espoused by some monumentally stupid people; who claim to believe, against all logic and common sense, that a violent predator who ignores the laws prohibiting them from robbing, raping, kidnapping, torturing and killing their fellow human beings will obey a law telling them that they cannot own a gun.

Look up Desert Lakes Sporting Clays. 30 minutes from the strip, nice course, Berretta 686 for rentals. I enjoyed it.
Also go down to Freemont and eat at the steakhouse in the basement of the Four Queens, old vegas and great food.

Red Rock is a nice park, just out of town. If you have a car and some time, Death Valley is a reasonable trip, not real hot this time of year. Valley of Fire is closer. Grand Canyon is a possibility, depends on how much driving you will tolerate. The Bellagio often has a good art exhibit.

Hillarious lol

Made my 1st trip to sin city a couple yrs ago...loved it.
Prior to leaving, the wife said "Lets go to cirque de solei", my lips said ok, my mind said your outta your mind, it was actually very impressive, and I would go to another.

We went quadding in the mountains...awesome

We did the hoover dam tour, recommend it

Took a boat tour of lake meade, very relaxing and beautiful

We wanted to do the chopper tour & lunch over/at the grand canyon, but the folks we went with couldnt afford it, but for sure doing it next time

If you like seafood, hit the smorg @ the Rio, when I found out we were going to a "smorg", I thought oh yippe, a smorg...classy. I/we loved it and will go back every time I hit Vegas again.

Me & my pal checked out the gun shop. We never shot anything (way too busy in there), but was worth the trip to watch folks that havent even shot a pellet gun, grab hold of a full auto rifle.

I gambled $10 away...lost it all Big Grin, and felt like I was been bent over, dont like gambling or the thought of it, but Vegas is awesome just the same.

Bass Pro store, if you don't have one near you and rent a Harley if the weather is nice enough and do Hoover dam tour.

My wife and I went to Vegas last September for the first time just for a couple days. We are not gamblers but had a great time.

I highly recommend renting a car from your hotel and spending the day driving to the Hoover Dam site just 30 min. south east of town then go a couple more hours to see the West Rim of the Grand Canyon. This will take you a full day if you take your time and I have to say the canyon is worth the trip. If you don’t want to drive there are many tour busses that will do the same thing.

For another day get a bus pass and travel the strip (Las Vegas Blvrd.) $7 for 24 hr pass. Go to all the casinos just to look they are unbelievable. Then after dark get on the bus Northbound and spend the eve. at Freemont St. Maybe visit the Pawn Stars Pawn Shop (they have a TV show)just for the hell of it.

Get you a free map from your hotel of the strip and Google 10 free things to do in Vegas for some other stuff . Take a camera.

Ted

Ridgeman,

Las Vegas is just fun and I have to say SO much nicer in every way than frickin' Reno. You do not have to gamble or engage a hooker to enjoy the town. The shows, dining and surrounding area are a blast.

Enjoy!

Dinner at Morton's Steak House. Spendy but worth it IMHO. A Cirque-de Soliel show (or however it's spelled). Look online for the several types available. I dunno what's available now. We saw "Ka" when we were there and it was great.

Unless you're the lead dog, the scenery never changes.

I never thought that I'd live to see a President worse than Jimmy Carter. Well, I have.

Only if you are an experienced rider. I would not recommend a neophyte starting with a Harley on unfamiliar roads. BTW - I have been riding street bikes for all of my adult life (as recent as yesterday) so I'm not an anti-bike guy at all. just a word of caution.

Las Vegas is FUN. Like Mark said it isn't all poker and hookers. The gun store is worth checking out, I went in September and shot several of their full autos AK 47, MP5 etc,(something I hadn't done before and it was fairly interesting). Also the open top buses are worth taking time to ride down the strip at night to see the lights.

Have fun,
Jason

Use Enough Gun
Walk the strip and enjoy all of the sights and casinos, great restaurants, buffets, good weather (90% of the time), etc. Spend a little money gambling as we don't pay an individual income tax because of your generosity at the machines and the tables. Big Grin
