Unguided New Mexico Antelope - $1000
We have just secured the tags for a large New Mexico ranch. The ranch is about 150 sections, (96,000 acres) there is about 30-35 sections of State land in side it that we will hunt as well.

The total size of the area hunted will be 189.62 sections. That is 121,356 acres. Plenty of room.

You can stay in the ranch house or you can opt for a hotel about 30 miles away. The ranch house accommodations are included.

You will need to take care of your own food, and trophy care since it is an unguided hunt. There will be guys around to help keep everyone separated, help with any problems you may encounter, etc. So, essentially it is a semi-guided hunt.

A reasonable expectation is to shoot an Antelope between 13"-15". It is rare to see any over 15" but it is a possibility. One hunter of the 17 will probably take a 16" Antelope.

Dates September 20-21
Hunt cost - $1000
New Mexico Tax - $62
Antelope License - $216

E-mail me for more specific info.

Yes. You may use an ATV.

Badboyz
New Mexico has some strict rules about using ATV's for antelope hunting and recovery. No off road usage for either purpose. You will have to stay on a defined two lane track.

New Mexico has some nice 'lopes though.

Badboys is correct. The same rules apply to vehicles as to ATV's when it comes to staying on the roads. So whether you drive a truck or an ATV, the rules are the same. Your ATV must be registered to use it in New Mexico.

However, it is legal, in certain public areas, to take a vehicle off road to retreive game. It is also legal to take a vehicle off road on private lands for retreiving downed game.

A little more info:

The ranch hands who work the ranch will be around to help out. They know the land, the animals and the habits. When you arrive, they already know where the biggest Antelope are. They will direct each hunter as to where the best area is to hunt, what to look for in judging Antelope quality etc.

This will keep hunters separated and make the the whole operation run smooth.

Success should be 100% if you can shoot even reasonably well.

I have had a few questions by e-mail that I will address here.

The dates of this hunt are September 20 & 21. It is a 2 day season in New Mexico.

The license is a guaranteed private landowner tag. The cost is $216, there are no other licenses needed.

One of the guys drove around the ranch this weekend and saw 7 Antelope that will be 15" and another one that is a true monster. He figured he might be pushin' 18". Once ground shrinkage sets in, I bet you still got a heck of a nice Antelope though.
