SwampcatAntelope hunt/outfitter
I am interested in an antelope hunt. Has anyone used Cabelas to book an antelope hunt? If so, what was your experience? Any recommendations for an outfitter (guaranteed landowner tag, preferably) would be appreciated. Thanks.

SevenxbjtI used cabelas last year for antelope and upland in Montana. Great hunt buddy got his first evening, I got mine lunch of second day and we shot lots of Huns and sharpies the rest of the hunt and even one sage grouse. If you wanted a doe or two for meat they were like $75 each. Saw LOTS of antelope probably 15-20 mature bucks per day. Very good outfitter family operation, put us up in the lower floor of his home. Only 4 hunters at a time and myself and partner never saw another hunter. I would reccomend them and can answer any questions.

Sean BrowneI hunted with Wes Atkinson in 2007 for Antelope. He has landowner tags in Colorado 87 again if you are interested. That's northern Colorado near Wellington.
Atkinson ExpeditionsI took a 76" for my first antelope. Have hunted Mule Deer with Wes too. He is a great guy to hunt with.

SwampcatThanks for all the good suggestions. I have some homework to do now, sorting through the possibilities suggested.

KenscoI've hunted with Cabela's a handful of times over the last ten years, and been happy with each experience. I also hunted pronghorn in West Texas with them and had the same result; no surprises, outfitter and guide worked hard, learned a lot about hunting pronghorn, and learned a lot about pronghorn habits during the rut. I am convinced that you can book a hunt for less money than Cabela's, if you are willing to accept a little more risk possibly.
I also rejected Cabela's hunt one year for African plains game. They wouldn't tailor the hunt to what I wanted. They had a menu, and I didn't like what was on the menu. I hunted with another outfitter, got exactly what I wanted and had a great time.

SwampcatGood advice, Kensco. I am going to talk to a few of the outfitters and make a choice based on those interactions and references. Thanks.

I don't see Wes Atkinson's prices on his website. Do you know what they are? I can call him if you don't know dates and rates. Thanks.
