Doc
anyone see this lion hunt video?
I heard this hunt is fenced in but the enclosure can be up t 50,000 acres so even if it is, the pen's a good size.

Still a good video. Go to the site, click on 'download video'

That's a well documented canned hunt of a caged lion that first started circulating about 2 years ago. It is very, very unrealistic compared to true wild lion hunting.

I know nothing of a real lion hunt...

Can anyone share what it would be REALLY like?

How much would something like that cost me? Not a canned hunt, but a REAL one.

From talking to more that one booking agent a good Lion hunt will set you back $15k plus, more like plus. I've shot one, a problem Lion over bait, but would love to do a 21 day safari tracking one down.

Doc, you can see the high fence and telephone poles in this video. I think they use the 50,000 acre figure quite loosely and it's probably a rather small enclosure. This video has shown up a couple times over the past year on A-R, usually on the African Hunting section. It's entirely possible (probable)this lion was raised in a kennel that produces lions like a puppy mill turns out cocker spaniels. There are (were?) smallish ranches in RSA that were raising lions for this very purpose, to be let out the day of the "hunt". One place I heard of had 400 lions and produced up to 60 maned lions a year for sale to these types of hunts. I was driven past such a place north of Port Elizabeth in RSA that was about 400 acres. I don't follow such things but I think the S.A. government has put the brakes on these lion breeding places because of the bad press this type of video generates.
