AtkinsonI have used the 75 Gr. Barnes X in my 6x45 (6mm-223) on antelope and deer...It will penitrate lenthwise on both...Kills well indeed...
the only drawback is it does not leave a very good blood trail no 6mm does, so I have restricted it to open country use....

DutchRay,
Where do you buy those 75 gr. X's? I can't seem to find them anywhere, catalog or store. I just got some 62 gr. GS's that I'm loading in a 6ppc for antelope, which should be a similar result (i.e. full penetration, dead antelope). Would like to play with the 75 gr. Barnes though. TIA, Dutch.

fatstry perrysguns.com they may have them!!! but i think barnes has quit making them or
pete at quality cartridge may sell you some the folks at barnes say they get 200 fps faster with their 85 gr xlc so that is the reason they dropped the 75 gr but try perrys they may have them

DutchThanks, I'll try them. Barnes still lists them on their website, so I hope they still make them. My ppc has a 1-12 twist, and won't stabilize the long 85 gr. boat tail. Bummer! Dutch.

<Bill>I tried the 85 grain boattail in my 243, it is the worst bullet I have ever shot.
One and a half foot groups, must not have been stable.

AtkinsonDutch,
I bought about 500 of them from Lock, STock and barrel here while back and they had a good supply then. They did discontinue them. 1-800-228-7925

TaosDutch,
I have used them on several antelope in a 6 BR. All were complete penetration on broadside shots within 250 yards. In that rifle they shot extremely well, in fact under .5 " Wish I still had it.

DutchTaos,
6 br is pretty close to 6ppc, performance wise. Glad to hear it works on antelope, a box is on the way (probably should buy more, eh?).
Thanks for the help, all. Dutch.

GustavoI really tried...and tried, but while hunting performance is spectacular, accuracy consistency is a nightmare...
I'm talking about both, the Barnes X and XLC in 85gr-
Today, despite so many good one-shot kills in antelope, red deer does and axis deer, I decided to trade my last two boxes, in order to try the Nosler Ballistic Tip in 95gr, where I expect to achieve good hunting performance and better accuracy.
Sad to say this becuase I'm a fan of Barnes bullets, tried them in Africa also with excellent results...but accuracy gives among other things, confidence, and at least in my .243 I'm loosin it...
