I realize real men don't use these ! but I am thinking of putting one on my A-bolt stalker. am I wasting my time? How close of a match are they to the stock? Thanks all

I noticed no difference between the stock Ruger pad and the decelarater pad. The LOP increase I disliked. This was on a Ruger M77MKII 300 Win Mag.

I cut the stock on my CIL 16 gauge flat and installed the decelarater pad on it. It made a big difference. The CIL had a steel but though.

The stock fit is close but not perfect. I put one on a Ruger #1 45/70 and it really tamed the beast.

It is most definately worth it! The pads on the A-Bolts are hard as a rock and the rifles are light. I put one on mine (300 Win at the time, 300 RUM now) and it was a huge improvement.

I didn't use a pre-fitted one (didn't know they made them at the time). I doubt a pre-fitted one will fit quite as well as one you fit yourself but it would save a bunch of work.

Don't worry about being a "real man"...real men hit their targets! I don't get a chance to shoot very often so when I do I shoot alot. I'd gladly re-install the factory pad and let any "real man" crank off 50 rounds from the bench with this thing in one sitting. Not having an adequate pad isn't macho, it's just dumb IMHO.

I have decellerators on all my rifles and find they really reduce felt recoil.I have seen some prefit pads that did fit well but others that needed work.

I too have replaced the plastic butt pad on my adl 30-06. It made a big difference to me. It's more of a push than a hit. I had it put on by a smith!

I have one on my SteyrMannlicher 30.06 and love it. I also have a KDF muzzle brake on the 06. With the brake and Decelarater it's like shoot ing a .223

The Decelerator works, pure and simple. I have them on ten of my rifles, and I swear by them. Now, if they only offered them in red, we'd have it made!

I've shot a .375 H&H with a decelerator and a muzzle brake and the thing shot like a .300 WM. I think the extra barrel length helps on these guns for felt recoil (less jump, more balance, and with the muzzle brake you still have 24.5" of barrel) and the decelerator slows the recoil as the rifle comes back into your shoulder. Too bad it was loud as shit!

Call me a whimp if you want to, but I installed decelerators on both my Browning BBR .338 win mag and my Ruger M77MKII .338 win mag. It made all the difference in the world in being able to handle the recoil. Before--10 shots MAX: After, 1-2 boxes EASILY. This is a big difference, as I am the type of person who loves to go and shoot several boxes of ammo just for the heck of it.

I took my Browning BLR .30-06 and Browning BPR .300 win mag to the range today, and shot 2 boxes a piece through them, just because it helped me unwind from the previous week. If that makes me a gun nut, then show me as being terminally insane.

The first thing I do when I get a new "big" rifle is to put a decelerator on it, usually the 1" version. I need the extra length, anyway, with my 38" arms, and all. They sure make shooting the boomers more fun. JMO, Dutch.

The "Decelerator" is good, but the "Triple Mag.Field 990"-model is better.
I have a Decelerator on my .460 Wby. and that works fine, but I recently put a Triple Mag. on my lightweight .416 Taylor and that made the 416 feel like a pussy. I have no doubt; I'll buy an other for my 338 RUM, and seriously thinking of changing the Decelerator on my 460 to a Triple Mag. to. I'll highly recomend to check it out before doing the deal.
