Widowmaker416Re: Help deciding on Big Game Rifle Battery-Cartridges
I own and use a interarms .270 which I've taken easily over 155 animals in North America and over 80 animals in Africa including a 2000 pound Eland, with one shot, I'm proud to say! (Federal factory load, 150 grain "High shock").
My second rifle is a Remington 700, in a .416 caliber, all I shoot in that is Federal factory loads, I've taken Hippo, Elephant(a 458 was also used on the same Elephant, the 416 out preformed it) Buffalo, croc, Eland, Zebra, and 2 porkypines! the .416 solids did alot less damage on them then the .270.
I'm heading back to Zimbabwe next September, going for Lioness, Sable, Buffalo. & giraffi, all with the 416. my .270 will be with me for the plainsgame.
I'm very happy with these two calibers, I feel theres nothing I can't take with just these two calibers. I'm gald to see you have a .270, good start!!!!

Chuck NelsonHave a quality 300 WM and 416 rem built with your light rifle thrown in if you wish, and call it complete. I see absolutely no reason to choose the 375 over the 416, and if you are planning around the ability to shoot H&H stuff in the Weatherby in a pinch, go with the H&H from the get go.
