This is by Dr. Martin Fackler Woun d Ballistics Expert
A large slow projectile (Fig 7) will crush (permanent cavity) a large amount of tissue, whereas a small fast missile with the same kinetic energy (Fig 4) will stretch more tissue (temporary cavity) but crush little. If the tissue crushed by a projectile includes the wall of the aorta, far more damaging consequences are likely to result than if this same projectile "deposits" the same amount of energy beside this vessel. george roofjwp, I simply don't comprehend the lengths you intend on taking an issue to prove a point that ultimately ends up being conjecture and opinion. For every "expert" like this particular "Dr.", a good trial lawyer will find one just as qualified to diaagree with his opinion. I think I read, speak, and comprehend as well as anyone, but I don't know what the hell this guy said after he'd said it. We both know that the aorta is one of the most fragile, yet vital parts of the body and heart. Any forensics person will tell you it is tethered to the body structure by thin ligaments that can and sometime do tear free upon a sudden stop of motion. This tears the aorta off the heart and death is very quick. All of which can be done without penetration of any extraneous material.
Since we're talking hunting and not murder, I just eschew taking heart shots. A deer shot in the heart can run a quarter mile before the air in it's lungs is used up and the lung not longer oxygenated. Then to say that an animal dies either from blood loss OR traumatic nerve damage is sort of a no brainer. Those two encompass every facet of lethality either directly or indirectly. Poisons work the same way.
So why don't you and I just agree that we'll disagree and stop this silly assed game we've played? I'm not a reloader, I'm a shooter/hunter and I love shooting and hunting. I do depend heavily on a dedicated reloader to work up rounds from what I tell him I'm looking for, but since I'm a shooter/hunter, we both know I could make myself happy with factory ammo.

WhitworthTruce, gentlemen? This discussion can actually be fun if not personal. Or, since we have beat the dead horse to a pulp (pause here to look at the emoticom)

, we can simply agree to disagree........
Just a thought.

george roofButchloc, don't they teach children that when there's a peace making process beginning they should be seen but not heard? Last time I checked, you don't own this site. If jwp agrees that we've shed enough blood over senseless banter, WE will stop it, but we won't be influenced by your smart mouth.
