416 Taylor in a Short Rifle
Hi Folks,
Down at the local gun emporium this morning I was playing with one of the the Ruger compacts in .243 and was struck by a novel ( read that crazy) idea for a go anywhere stop just about anything gun.

A 6.5 -7lb. 16.5 inch to 18 in muzzle breaked ( extra loud but required to somewhat control this little monster) barrel LA CRF actioned (Ruger , Winchester, CZ or Mauser) in a laminate or synthetic stock w/ a 1-4 scope ( maybe a scout setup?) and good Iron sight backup.

It would hit hard and be quick handling for easy to carry in steep, rough, or dangerous game country.

What do Y'all think about such a gun?

Good Shooting,
HBB

HBB,
I think that would be a novel idea... akin to the 18.5" 350 rem mag. 20" might be okay (perfect?) and you could easy get 2200....

that being said, I am building a 22" 500 jeffe-ry, as we speak

HBB,

My Steyr ProHunter in .376 Steyr has a 20" barrel and is 40" long. Slingster's Steyr Scout in .376 Steyr has a 19" barrel. The .376 is a powerful cartridge in a compact package, and you can get the ProHunter at CDNN Investments for under $450.
