For one thing , but which you most likely already know is that a bufalo can hop over a four strand fence like a deer, heck most likely easier.

These are not wild bison these are domesticated ones. Most wild animals don't respect any fence; elk can sure tear up one in a hurry. Sure domesticated bison might be a little more skittish than your average Herford cow but they are still used to fences, people, pickups, and tractors. Plus I've seen 2000+ pound domestic bulls and 1500+ pound cows that could clear a 6+ foot fence without touching a rail; or take out a fence that would total out vehicle to go through and not miss a beat. If cattle want out they get out that is my point, keep a good source of food and water and a decent fence you can even keep bison in. Of course there are exceptions to everything and you always wind up with one or two that get out no matter what so those cattle go to the sale barn in my family.
