Has Anyone Seen This Picture?
First, I will say I know absolutely nothing about the origins of this.

I say photoshopped, without a doubt, but have some acquaintances who feel otherwise. None of the "believers" however are from Montana where we have both lions and whitetails.

You mean today? Just once. Right before I went to AR.

About this same time last year? Several!

I have never seen the photo, but I don't see any blood, or torn hide or hair. I am yet to see a lion kill, fresh any way, that there wasn't a sign of a heck of a fight. Not a blemish on that deer. It could still be real, but I am skeptical.

I've only seen it a hundred or so times.

Here's a google link.

I would say photo-shop. The position of the cats head compared to how the deer is being drug doesnt look correct to me.

Just my 2cents though.

I was say photo-shot. Several years ago I watched a sow lion pulling a full grown mule deer doe across the road. It was a paved intersection at Deer Creek Canyon and Turkey Creek Road in front of the fire department.(Colorado) It was about 8:00pm with a meeting taking place at the fire dept. There was close to twenty trucks in the parking lot and all of the lights were on. The cat had the deer by the head and was dragging it backwards. I watched for a good ten minutes and I have to say that a lion would find it very hard to drag the pictured deer in the manner shown.

I could be wrong, but a couple of things make me agree the photo was manipulated:

1. If that lion has any part of that deer in its mouth, it could only be the buck's tongue. The lion's mouth is too far forward to be an ear, and its head is not turned enough to grip the deer by its neck.

2. The lion's rear legs are behind the buck's body, which would make it much tougher to drag than if the cat straddled the deer with all four legs.

Not to mention that if the cat was holding the deer by tongue or cheek, then I would expect the head would be twisted so that the antler tips would be pointed toward the camera. I vote fake.
