smarterthanuMy best muley yet
I got to go Mule deer hunting in SW New Mexico Last week. Had a hellavu good time. I shot at and missed and allright buck on day one. I am glad I did. The next morning I glassed a buck from almost two miles but could tell very little about him. He dissappeared into an area we thought was his bed so we went to go look for other deer. After lunch my guide and I decided we had no other leads so we decided we would try and get above this buck and glass the hole he layed down in and maybe get a better look at his head gear. We positioned ourselves above him and glassed the trees where he was last seen. For two hours I staired at a small area of trees and bushes about fifty fett in diameter. Finally he stood up and changed postions and we could see his white butt. We still knew nothing about the horns. Finally with the sun going down and a good wind I decided to make a move and get close. When I moved east of his hole I finally spotted an ear move in the bushes. I picked up my binos and new immediately to get ready for a shot. He was sound asleep forty yards below me. I shot him and he quickly expired in his bed.
This is what I walked up on.
Later we posed him up for a pretty pic
Several friends and a couple of my brothers were also hunting the same area at the same time and all got really nice deer. It was a lot of fun and defined why I love mule deer hunting.

smarterthanuMuch Thanks fellas. Shot my first muley about 12 years ago. Maybe in another dozen years I will get another great one. I love searching in my glasses for deer and finding them with my feet.
