I read in the Omaha World Hearald on 1-25, that while hunting, a 12 yo without a gun, and a 16 yo with 30-06 had a 97 pound cougar crouched between them at a distance of 25 yds, and they both said it was ready to pounce. The 16 yo shot the cat in the head and killed it. No charges were filed.
