I live in Georgia, so it would take a demonstrable track record to induce me to come to Houston area for bow only. Even being a superior shot with archery equipment it still takes a lot of ingredients to have a successful archery hunt for mature whitetails. I guess score me a 6 out of 10, but would be higher if the ranch was local where I could scope it out beforehand.

The Savage Ranch (Judy Savage) off the Interstate in Sequin, Texas did this exact same thing in the 80's and 90's quite successfully. They also had exotics on the place, with reasonable fees. I don't know what happened to them, but they were converting all their property to residential developement, and had bison and auodad roaming around for people to watch. I was working at South Texas nuke plant at the time, and took my son and a guest out there for a fun weekend trip. Prices were very low (I seem to remember about $100/day) and you could shoot a buck, or a doe, or a pig each day you paid for. Their fenced whitetail area was 640 acres, and each hunting section was 40-60 acres with provided stands and feeders; depending on how busy it was, you could hunt multiple sections. I will say it is not for most hunters as the area was a little small, but it was enjoyable for my young son.
