Need recommendation in TN
I just got home from Afghanistan yesterday and found a permit for an ML hunt at Catoosa WMA in TN on the table. I'm stationed in NC and won't have a chance to scout before I head over for the hunt.

Can anyone offer suggestions on where to hunt during the NOV 15-17 hunt? I'll have a NULA 209 muzzleloader and a TreeSaddle sling stand so I can hunt as mobile or static as I need to. I just need help narrowing down an area so I can get imagery and maps.

If you don't want to post it in the forum feel free to PM me. Thanks for any help.

I know Tennessee hunting but am unfortunately at the wrong end of the state for that one. If no one shows up here with an answer I'd turn to the state TWRA for help. Ask them to put you unto the manager(s) of that area. You will probably find some help that way. If they can't help, ask them who they know locally you can talk to. There'll be someone out there. And, google the aerial maps for it and study them. Find a topographical map too and study the terrain. The Corps of Engineers nearest you should have those.

Hoping that at least gets you started. And learn the TWRA's rules for management areas.

Btw, not to discourage you but I went on one Tennessee public deer hunt in a big place in a different part of the state years ago and would never go again. It was ridiculously overcrowded and I think dangerous in the spots anywhere near parking areas. And you couldn't tell that from scouting the day before. It made me a confirmed believer in private land only. Now, that was a modern gun hunt and Catoosa may not be like that. I don't know. But, I'd definitely ask about how popular and crowded it is and try for an area not heavily frequented.
