Winchester-(without union debate)
In the Feb/March "Petersen's Hunting" there is a "New for 2006" section. In it they talk about whats new from Winchester (Super X Rifle , gas operated semi-auto, M94 Takedown Timber Scout, etc.)

Yet I hear so much about Winchester shutting down.

Which is it? Bringing out some new guns or shutting down? Anyone have "hard facts"?

Have a good one!

duffy,

First of all, that article was no doubt written before the announcement that USRAC is closing the plant in Connecticut. Secondly, USRAC is not going out of business, just ceasing to manufacture Model 70's, 94's and 1300's. All other models are presumably still going forward. It's really too bad, I liked the looks of some of their new 2006 Model 70's, but they are not to be.

Unlike Time and Newsweek the issues of shooting rags ( also fishing mags, etc.) are "put to bed" two to three months before release. No doubt the publishers and editors were beating their heads against the wall when Winchester made the announcement.
