Combo Gun
Whenever I take a nice woodstocked rifle on an ATV I just use a good padded case that fits in the ATV rack. This protects the wood stock.

Also when in real dusty conditions it keeps dust off the gun as well.

I have decided to just get a recoil pad installed on my BBF and pass on the synthetic. Use the money to get another set of barrels.

What calibre/guage are you thinking about.
Have you priced a second of bbls?

I would like to have a short set of 9,3x74R bbls for my BBF when the nephew gets a little older.

9.3X74/12 gage probably in the standard length.

That would be a great choice as well.

I have a good amount of 9.3X74R brass, ammo and a set of dies, so I do not need an excuse to buy a set of barrels.

Try this on for size. 9.3x74 x12 ga with a 9.3x74 einstucklauf.
I had a smooking deal on a Sauer luxus 12x12x9.3x74 a number of years ago. I decided that I had no need for a drilling with a 9.3 barrel untill a few years later I discovered that someone in Germany was makeing the 9.3 einstucklauf.
Is it just me but woulden't that make a really cool gun. A 9.3 double rifle with the einstucklauf in or take it out and have a double 12. Heck I guess you could put a 9.3 insert in each shotgun barrel and have a 9.3 triple.

A couple of thoughts...

I ahve had Buechsenmacher (gunsmiths) in Germany tell me that some drillings are not built for Einstecklauf (rifled insert) with calibers and pressure beyond 222. Seems that the action is not designed to handle that kind of pressure and that you can get some "air" in the action. Would like to hear some other opinions on this.

I prefer the 9.3 x 62..recoil is practically identical but the downrange energy is better...trajectory is also a bit better.

Either way, there's nothing in North America that doesn't pile up in a hurry.

I have a 9.3X62 all ready, I just think the 9.3X74R is such a sexy looking round, a guy should have one of those as well.
