Hi: I have a Brno 300 series in 7x57Rover 12ga&5.56x50R Mag over 12ga.I read somewhere that extra barrel sets were made in 9.3x74 &375H&H etc.Does anyone know if this is true and if it is where can i get a set. Thank You

IIRC you could get the 9.3x74R in the 300 series, but to get the 375 H&H you needed to go up to the "Super".

Hi Dave: I would prefer 9.3x74 but the trouble is finding a set.[ What does IIRC mean?] A set in 45-70 would be nice but they probably didn't make them.Regards Dan

IIRC = shorthand for 'if I remember correctly.'

As for 45/70, I don't know. However, they did make some 458 Win Mag BBL sets, in the Super. I'm not sure, but I think they were called 'Stopper'
I have only ever seen one, it seemed well made. It came as a set, with 300 H&H, 375 H&H and 458 Win Mag BBLs, scoped except the 458 BBLs.

I have heard that Baikal are supposed to be bringing out a 45/70 SxS double.

As far as I've ever been able to find out, the barrel sets in the ZH 300 series were:

ZH 301-303 Field, Trap and Skeet shotgun respectively
ZH 304 7x57R/12ga
ZH 305 5.6x52R/12ga
ZH 306 5.6x50R/12ga
ZH 307 .22 Hornet/12ga
ZH 308 7x65R/12ga
ZH 309 8x57JRS/12ga
ZH 324 7x57R/16ga
ZH 325 7x65R/16ga

I have a ZH 304 myself, and I like it a lot. It is certainly a very versatile and practical bit of gear. A friend of mine has ZH 304 and 305 barrels sets, and he likes his too, and I'd love to have a ZH306 or 307 for small game. A 9.3x74R/9.3x74R double barrel set would be great too, but I don't think there ever was one.

FWIW I recently bought a Baikal IZH 94 double rifle in 9.3x74R, and it has so far proved to perform very well, especially considering the price. It is of course a plain and utilitarian rifle, but it is accurate and functional and stands comparison with the ZH 304 I have.

The Blue Book would have you believe that the BRNOs came only in shotgun and combination gun versions, but there is a 7x57R OU for sale right now on Gunbroker. I don't know how heavy they went, but I have seen othe 7x57R BRNO double rifles for sale in the past couple of years.
