I just traded for a drilling with hammers. 16x16 x 9.3 x 72R with extrnal hammers. It is nitro proofed on the bottom of the barrels. It is marked "Schnepff" and "COttr?" Anyone know the age of this one? It has an underlever to open barels and back action locks and a set trigger for the rifle barrel. Wood is very plain but nice and checkered. It has some borders cut in the metal and some flower like engraving. Anyone know the country of origin? Thanks in advance, moodyholler

It seems to be a drilling from the beginning of the 20th century, and it is certainly german.

Are there any stamps and marking on the inside of the bascule or under the barrels? If you write a bit about that, we possibly can give some clues about it.

How legible is the "COttr" mark? It may be that you have a 9.3 Collath cartridge for the rifle barrel, although from memory they were all 65mm length and not 72. I should add that I have never seen the markings for that caliber but the similarity makes one wonder.
