Japanese arisaka t99 stock recoil lug removal?

I am doing a project on an Arisaka 99 stock and need to remove the stock bolt lug. Anybody ever remove one and how did you do it without damaging the stock? Thanks for any advice. Randy

Yes you make a long blade screw driver to unscrew the lug nut. Notch the middle.
