I've come across this rifle and i can't narrow down what it is. I bolt is very unusual to me as well. Some say it's a m96 others say it's a 98. There are no other markings on this rifle other than what is written on the receiver. husqvarna vapenfabriks aktiebolag 1944.

96 - 2 locking lugs, cocks on closing the bolt, usually small front ring.
98 - 3 lugs, one back near the handle, cocks on opening, can a have large / small ring.

Somebody certainly modified the back end of the bolt. Probably has an aftermarket trigger with a slide safety.

What is a good looking functioning rifle in a good caliber worth.

One can buy a Ruger American and other less costly rifles for a few hundred US dollars

If it works well doesn't have any problems the scope is good I price it a bit less then what I could but a brand new cheaper end rifle.

OK in Mauser terms it is a Mauser 1896

I swede terms it is an M38, though not in original military configuration.
