Scroll down and you'll find the 9.3x64 cart. Is their brass any good?

I saw this stuff on the web about a year ago and got all excited, and asked around then. Now, this isn't first hand knowledge or anything, but the consensus at the time was that this stuff is not as hot as standard European loadings. It's intended for the Russian semi-autos that are becoming available now (and as a military/sniper cartridge of sorts). They are claiming a MV of 2428 fps with a 258 gr bullet.

That sounds more like what you'd get from a 9.3x62, not a x64. Plus, it's got those damn lacquered steel cases, so you don't even end up with brass out of the deal. I'm not so sure I'd want to stuff steel cases through a nice rifle anyway... They work fine in an AK or SKS, tho!

It would be just fine for hunting. At that velocity the cup and core bullet would work as intended.

At that price you could buy a couple hundred rounds and get good with the rifle.

Those rounds would work reliably in the winter as well.

Also, no worries about reloading.

The 9.3 x 64 sniper ammunition is made at a different plant. It is roughly equivalent to the US M118 "special ball" that preceded the present M118LR ammunition.

You'll never notice that extra 100 fps, except that your shoulder won't hurt as much.

Thanks lawndart! thumb I've been noticing the Russians are doing a revival of the 9.3x64.
Well there has been justified fear of not being able to find the brass, if the 64 loses favor.
I figure thanks to the Russians things aren't looking to bad. I hear they even have a lower
priced hunting rifle chambered for the 64. (For the life of me I don't know where? bewildered)

It is a Saiga brand/style of rifle.
Saiga Los 9-1

The Soviets are selling a commercial rifle and ammo to subsidize building their military sniper rifle.

I will check and see if the ammunition is Boxer or Berdan primed. I'm sure the ammo will be cheap enough to practice often, and practice well.

A 262 grain bullet at 2500 fps sounds like a hard kicker with a looping trajectory. Not my idea of the ideal sniper rifle.

Just Think about what a highly explosive expanding hollowpoint would do to a humun. It is all about mind games when war is going on. Guy sitting there talking to his buddy, and then the next thing you know.. Well I am not going to go there.. but you get the idea. Put enough fear in the opposing side and they will quit.. This of course was the point of the W W 2 A-Bombs. We can't drop those now for fear of others droping theirs, but the games of war are always playing on some front, Where ever it is. Problem now is we are not allowed to do the things that we have done in the past due to a Television camera on every corner of a war zone. Sending live feeds to every city in the world almost. Many wars were won with this tactic. Think back through history where mass slaughter of opposing forces has turned a battle one way or the other. Now when something brutal happens it is on every news network.. For billions to see and say "Dear Lord that's awful" LLB

So long as you know the range, and can dope the wind, you can put the bullet where you wish.

The gunsmith I work for is the distributor/dealer for the Izhmash target rifles.

In particular, the CM-2, both adult and cadet, and the 7-3 and 7-4 Biathlon rifles.

All are fairly popular, but being the season and all, the biathlon's are doing well.

It's reassuring to know that quite a few women are taking up biathlon, in addition to target shooting.

As it turns out, for a young woman seeking a college scholarship at a school with a shooting team, the advent of Title 9, which assures equal funds for both male and female teams, makes good slots available.

That's cool but how does this relate to the cartridge in question? Or are you implying you can get one of these SVDK sniper rifles in caliber 9.3x64 mm?

isn't there some kind of embargo or restrictions set on the Soviets. This druganov would be appealing if not for that. Possible? Cost? Time frame?

Naw,

We buy some rifles and ammo from them, they use the profits to build more for themselves. They pop some Chechnyans and their buddies in the forehead; everybody is happy.

I really like the wolf 22 LR match ammo. Very good stuff, especially for the price.

Does anyone actually have this rifle? Last I checked it (or US importation of it anyway) was vaporware.

Doesn't the Wolf .22 come from Germany?

I don't know.

I have held and shot other RAA rifles in the past two years. Their "sporter rifle" version of the economy Biathlon rifle was a touch rough, but accurate. I believe an hour or three with files, cloth paper and a stone would see it right.

I don't know that either. The only thing I do know is that it is reasonably priced, and shoots like 22LR ammunition that costs a lot more. I really like that ammunition.
