I own a Tikka Whitetail in stainless synthetic .308. I have read that Tikka's use the same barrels as Sako and are made side by side in the same factory. Aside from some cosmetic differences like better finishing, more metal vs plastic, and a little nice synthetic stock. Whats the big difference and is the extra cost worth it?
I know sako has a 3 lug bolt vs. tikka's 2 but these rifles are more alike than different.

its raining... really, you answered your own question. one has more plastic, double locking lugs vs triple lugs, and has the SAKO name.

Think of accuracy: lo mismo.

Think of resale: no lo mismo.

Will the SAKO always be worth twice as much? probably more than twice in a few years, as the plastic parts oxidize and lose their plasticity.
but this may be after we are no longer caring or knowing....

Yes! the Sako is worth the money. Although the Tikka is a quality firearm and worth the money, to me the Sako is worth the extra money - especially the L and A series. The Sako will hold its value much better than the Tikka simply because of it's reputation for superior quality.

Is a leuy VIII worth twice a VII? Or three times a VI? Can they do enough to a VIII to make it three times more valuable than a VI? That's a question only you can answer.
I believe in diminishing returns in that as price goes up, quality goes up but only to a point, after which you are paying for whistles and bells rather than true value. I think, however, that the Tikka and Sako are not like a Remington BDL and ADL; but rather, they are two distinctly different rifles.
