Chopaka81Rem M600 308 Win Handload?
Hi, I have a Remington Model 600 in 308 Win. It has the original factory 18.5" barrel on it. I have been loading low recoil 150gr loads for my son as a starter load.
The powder I have been using is BL-C, Primers are CCI200, Brass is Rem, Bullet is Sierra 150gr SP.
What I am looking for is a load that will reach 2700+ fps out of the 18.5" barrel. In particular I am interested in which powder is best.
Thanks!
Don

12FVSS260I think between varget - RL 15 - IMR4895 - and IMR4064 you will find what suits your needs. I use RL15 in lapua brass with CCI BR2 primers along with 150gr accubonds and get excellent accuracy and velocity from a short barrel 308. My buddy uses and swears by varget in another short barreled 308.

ppodpearsonThe Rem 600 in .308 was my first rifle back in 1966 when I was 15. I think my dad paid about 50 bucks new for it from a little gun shop in Federal Way that couldn't sell it. I still have and shoot it. I started reloading for in in '67. The first load I settled on was Win case, CCI primer, 150 Hornady spire point, and 43.5 gr. IMR3031. A couple years later I went to 165 GR Hornady and Noslers with 46gr of Win 748. This load got my first buck, first elk, and many more as years went by. I still use this combination, but am starting to work with IMR 4064, and also plan to buy some Ramshot TAC and Big Game and try them out.
I noticed that you are in Washington, so am I. I'm in the Mossyrock area. It would be great to be able to work up a load for this neat little rifle with someone. I do have a Chrony that is currently unused that I plan on breaking in when the weather clears a little. Please keep posting your experiences working up a load.
