covey16Perseverance and the .300 Weatherby
Earlier in the week I went to the small local range to which I belong.
I was there by myself and one of the things I do as the rifle cools between groups is tidy up.
Pick up brass, loose paper etc.
As I worked , I began to notice unusual brass headstamped WW Super 300 Win Mag but with a Weatherby double radius shoulder and an extremely short neck.
I'm sure this has happened many times before, but ONCE per offender.
I found 34 of these cases at the 25 yard line and the 200 yard line.
I wonder if he ever got the rifle to zero and group properly???????
Sort of a reverse Ackley Weatherby.
Have any of you guys ever run into this kind of willful density ?

aliveinccThe whole country ran into it in the election of 2008. We just notice it more when it involves rifles, bullets etc.
It seems more common w/ the 7mms for some reason.

LWDI once heard a sporting goods store clerk tell a customer that he could use .243 Win in a 6mm Rem because they were both 6mm. Wonder how that worked out........

DogchaserI was at the range one day right before Elk season and saw a couple guys do the same thing.
They left all the brass and I went pick it up and found about 30 cases like that.
I never saw the targets, but it was a long punishing sight in session for these guys.

covey16I get the feeling that sporting goods clerks don't get a whole lot of training these days and that there are hordes of people who think they are Daniel Boone just because they can afford to buy a rifle.
Many of us get taught early to know their equipment, many don't.
