NontypicalBrowning A-bolt Titanium 7WSM vs 300WSM
this rifle has caught my eye, in a hypothetical way (since I haven't seen one in the flesh)
Browning Mountain Ti I haven't carefully analyzed 7 vs 300 WSM, I'm curious what sort of analysis others have. The 7 seems to have the best case capacity of the WSMs, and there's a great variety of bullet wts. Seems like it might be best mix of flat shooting and hard hitting, but I haven't checked the load data to see if it's overbore enough to not have any real advantage over the 300.
I think I'm ruling out 270 based upon available bullet wts and figuring it's probably pretty overbore.
Opinions/Analaysis?

boilerroomFor your money I'd get a Tikka T3 Lite/Stainless.
It weighs only 6 3/8 lbs in the short mags, comes with a 24 3/8 barrel in the short mags, has a reputation for accuracy that the Browning does not.
The Browning Ti is way over priced. How inportant is it to have a piece of titanium? It's still a Browning A-Bolt. Both my A-Bolts shoot accurate but I have feeding problems and they rattle when I'm walking in the woods. This is because of the floor plate/detachable magazine combo idea. It gets looser and looser as time goes on. It drives me crazy! Some people call them "Rattle Snake A-Bolts".
I bought my second A-Bolt because the price was good, what it's worth. If you are going to spend the kind of cash that they are asking for the Ti, you could build a nice light weight rifle with quality parts.
JMHO

There are several light guns out there, the Wby, is a better go than the Tikka, especially if you're not into plastic parts. If your like me, I'm looking LIGHT! So under 6# is a must. The new browning looks nice, but if actually finding one is even close to that price, you're better off to pick up the Titanium 700 (about $800 actual price)and have it rebarreled w/ a 280 Imp/.300 hawk (about $500). You'll end up w/ the same weight, & twice the quality of barrel and about the same price.

NontypicalI'm not sure what's up w/ the accuracy/bbl quality issues noted, I''ve seen a lot of referrences noting A-bolt reputation for good out-of box accuracy, and that has been my personal experience as well. Haven't had the rattle issue either. Killed a bedded elk out of a group of 20 in Nov. w/ one of my A-bolts, they didn't hear me coming.
I'm guessing actual retail may be considerably lower than MSRP, but we'll see.
anyway, I was mostly interested in 7 vs 300 WSM compare/contrast since this is a rather hypothetical rifle at this point...

Gonzo FreakPowerI'm afraid you won't get the info you need on the 7 vs 300. The Ti part of the topic is just too hot to ignore. Try a search on this forum as well as Reloading. There should be a few useful discussions.
As to the Brownings. I've had excellent accuracy with my stock 300WinMag, and heard the same from 99% of posters. I have no idea where that statement above came from.
$1,700 is a lot of money, i don't know if actual retail will knock enough off the top for it to be reasonable. My first thought was whether I could get these in 260Rem. It is bugging me that all these great new rifles are coming out, but only if you want the WSM. I bet all the custom shops are licking their chops at the anticipation of new WSM-chambered rifles coming in for a change in cartridge.
Anyway, try a search and if that doesn't work try a post comparing only the cartridges. The Ti A-Bolt is making everyone, including me, forget what you're actually after.

Savage99None of the WSM's are overbore capacity at all. The 7mm WSM may hold a tiny grain of powder more than the other two.
I do think that Bell & Carlson stocks handle recoil and vibration quite well.
