After market Remington 700 SA Follower?
Guys,

As the title says I'd like to acquire an after market short action Remington 700 follower. The specific rifle is my 350 RM and it's pretty clear that the follower is hanging up in the mag box causing feeding issues. I lubed the mag box a little and that fixed it but I'd like something more dependable and not as flimsy as the stock follower. Any ideas?

Mark, when the follower and spring are placed in the mag box with the receiver off does the follower tip forward or sit level? If level you need a new mag spring. If that's not it put some Dychem on the edges of the follower and relieve as needed. Polish the edges to 600 grit + to ensure flawless feeding.

I think there has been a change in the followers. the one on my 700 from 1962 has a stamped chrome plated "flimsy" follower while the one in a friends 700 that was made in mid 80's appeared to be cast or possibly machined. The rifle was new in box, so it wouldn't have been aftermarket. so you may be able to check for Remington parts to see it they have different grades of followers.

You should be able to order a new follower through Remington. The new versions are castings in stainless steel.
They are very different to the old pressed steel versions.
I have had several now and all have needed de-burring on the sides to provide smooth feeding and loading.
The weight of them may require a new spring, so I would order both and avoid any problems.

Cheers.
