That is helpful advice. For one, we have a stateside 270 with a Tikka composite stock that I plan to cut back 1/2" this summer. Now I know to cut it at a slight bottom forward angle.

Reattaching the Limbsaver recoil pad will probably mean epoxying some wooden dowel pieces for receiving the screws, unless people have some better ideas.

We'll see how it goes before getting the African rifle.

A simple trip to the Hardware store solves this issue. Purchase 2 Torx/Hex head metal screws (fine thread) 1.5" long and the accompanying sleeves (pillars) to fit. Fill exsisting Pad holes with epoxy, do the cut, re-drill the pad holes a tad oversize and set the sleeves/pillars flush to the cut using epoxy. Drill the spacer accordingly and the recoil pad too (not all the way through the Pad of course, only down to the plastic backing) and use a High Speed Wood Drill drilled very slowly into the rubber recoil pad with lubricating oil will cut a perfect 3/16" hole for the screws.

Violá, now it's just a screw on/off proposition.
