300 WSM and short barrel
Good day, guys!

How do you think, will 300 WSM be accurate in 22" barrel? The goal is to have a light weight rifle to shoot 1 MOA at 600 yards.

A 22" barrel will be just as accurate as a 24" barrel. But I'd rather have the 24" barrel for a few extra fps and extra distance for the muzzle blast from my ears. I have a couple 300 WSM's with 24" barrels that weigh 7lbs (rifle only) or under and shoot better than MOA to 300yds I'm sure they would shoot MOA to 600yds but I haven't shot them that far yet. I have two 300WSM, a Kimber with a 24" bbl and a Dakota with a 23" bbl - both shoot good. I still can get 3000fps with 180 grain bullets and 2800fps with 200 grain bullets from the 23" bbl.

I have an H-S Precision bolt action handgun in 300 WSM with a 16" barrel (w/brake) and it is exceedingly accurate. It seems to be a lot more accurate than I am capable of. I haven't put it over the chrono yet - I am sure I will give up quite a bit to a rifle. With as short a barrel as I have being as accurate as it is, I am sure a 22" barrel is capable of at least similar accuracy in this caliber.

I had a 22" 300WSM barrel for my R-93, and it was extremely accurate.

I have a 22" barrel on my Rem model 7 in 7mmRSAUM. It is the most accurate rifle I have ever owned.
