Which .338 wm in a production rifle?

Which .338 wm in a production rifle?

My first choice would have been a Winchester M70 but they are getting hard to come by. What else? It must be controlled round fed. Ruger?

Ruger 77 MarkII Stainless its tought ,accurate and balances very well.Its about the toughest rifle made.It kicks less than other 338 due to the stock and medium heavy barrel.

I'd recomend the Ruger M77/MKII in the S/S version. Tough, durable, and if the recoil is a little too much, pachmayr makes a prefit pad that fits both the new and old style synthetic stocks that works great.

Take a look at the ruger M77 sporter its stainless in a laminated stock 24" barrel around $515.00

I recently got a Ruger stainless laminate and haveput a leupold 3-9 on it. After bedding and a trigger job it will put 3 225 gr woodleigh protected points into 1" at 110 yards, good enough for me. It feeds and ejects flawlessly.

The laminated stock does kick less in the 338 due to heavier weight.The 338 Ruger stainless in either laminated or the plastic stock is hard to beat.I wish I had a good laminated stock or good fiberglass stock for my mark I 77s in 338.Ruger just this year quit making the 338 win mag with open sites.I might try to pick one up if I find one reasonable.You never know what will happen in the middle of nowhere in Alaska.I will pack another extra scope on my next fly in trip.I have a Winchestetr model 70 stain less that has been nothing but problems.I have had no problems with my 338 Rugers.I have shot 3/4" groups at 200 yards with the Ruger With Remington 225 gr ammo.It was the firtst batch the loaded with the 225 gr grandslam bullets in them.I like the Ruger Stainless rifles better than any other stainless rifles.

i have a sako in 338 win mag, it does kick just a bit

love it to death, but then its only for fun, never put more than 20 or 30 thru it at a time. i bought it second hand, not sure of the model, but its wood and before the 75 .

Just ordered a Ruger S/S in 338WinMag. The "boat-paddle" models were much maligned, but try finding one over here S/H! In my opinion the Ruger S/S is the best 338WinMag out there at the moment... just wish they still had the open sights.

Get a VZ-24, put stainless steel .338 barrel on it, glass bed in synthetic stock of your choice, it will be better than any factory rifle

- CRF action
- Stainless Stell integral construction
- 3-pos safety (frame mounted...the right way to do it)
- integral scope mounts (vital)
- good to very good hunting accuracy
- very tough
