NICE PRESENTATION by North Fork. Comparing weight retention for the 7mm at moderate velocities, the terminal weight for the NF 160gr would be similar to the terminal weight of older generation 195gr bullets, and the 140 gr similar to the older 175gr.... and all at the increased velocities of the lighter bullets. And, looking at his preferred impact velocities, keeps the 7x57 as a good 300yd round. If accuracy can be maintained ????????? I'm definitely interested (thanks for the thread) (now i'm scratching my head about my 338 loads)

My .340 Wby and .338 Lapua sure do like the North Fork 225 and 240 grain bullets. My 14 year old grandson took his Elk last year with the Lapua with the 240 grainer last year, we didn't recover the bullet on a pass through shot,but all he could say for days was "WOW what a bullet". Good shooting.

After all the positive reviews I've seen regarding NF's I was thinking of trying some in my 7x57. I'm curious, are they a bullet that requires high velocity cartridges to gain any benefit?

Absolutely not. If you take a look at Mike's list of bullets, you will see that there are more than a few for the "slower" cartridges. For instance, .348 and .35's.

then click bullets on the left side of the page and check out the various diameters and weights that you are interested in. Mike has pictures of expansion at various velocities.
