Need Muzzle Break Info For a Rem 700 BDL SS in .300 RUM
Im on the market for a muzzle break for my new Rem 700 BDL SS in .300 Rem. Ultra Mag. Does anyone here know where I can get a muzzle break for this rifle? What is the price? Will the Weatherby Accubrake system work on Remington Rifles? Thanks [Smile]

If your gun shoots well now another thing to consider might be a mercury recoil reducer in the stock. That way you wouldn't need to add another 2 inches to your barrel. [Roll Eyes]

I've got a Vais on my .300 Ultra. Cost around $100.00 plus what ever your smith will charge to install. Think you'll find the Weatherby brake to be "louder". Another one to concider is a KDF or a Gentry brake.

What about Magna-Porting It looks to have all the advantages of a muzzle break but doesnt add length to the barrel. But my concern is that it would do damage my rifling. Anyone have experience with this company?

Magna porting is not as effective as a muzzlebrake. It reduces muzzle rise, and some claim actually increases felt recoil, as the combination backward and rotational thrust is changed to just a straight back jab.

Go ahead and have a break put on, but have it done by a competent smith. An improperly installed brake can adversly effect accuracy.

The original Vais muzzle brakes.....

www.muzzlebrakes.com in San Antonio, TX

I have them on 3 different rifles and would use no other.

Trap Shooter, I've got a S&W 629 that I had Magnaported some 20 years ago. Takes some of the bite out of it, plus does reduce muzzle flip. They us an EDM process to "burn" the ports into the barrel with carbon electrodes. No harm to the rifling, the process doesn't leave burrs like conventional machining would.

TrapShooter, I have found the David Gentry Quiet Muzzle to be excellent on my 338. It reduces the felt recoil to 270 win levels and I can't tell any increase in noise. I don't know about how it would affect someone off to the side but it throws the noise away from the shooter.
