Grizz 669.3x74r
I just picked a new toy in 9.3x74r a ruger #1 a friend of mine had brass and bullets for this cartridge. So I picked up the brass today and mesured it it seems a little short 2.762 vs.9.933 the manual says is trim to lenth the shoulder is spot on and all other dimensions are spot on. The question is do ya think I can use this brass in my gun, in my mind it's kinda like 38's in a 357, am I wrong or right?
Thanx in advance

butchlocit will work fine. don't forget the dimensions in the books are usually maximum ones, with allow a bit for case strech

enyI've found that brass from norma ammo is quite a bit shorter than the books say to trim to.It is also quite a bit heavier than the unfired norma brass I'v bought.

RustyI like RWS or Hornady brass in 9.3X74R. The only case seperations I have experienced have been with Norma brass.

Larry SellersHaven't measured the brass on mine since it has only been fired 10 times. Factory ammo was all I used. I would however consider offers on this Ruger #1, dies, brass, bullets, Leupold scope and Warne QD rings if anyone is interested? Just haven't found the time to get this one into the normal routine.

Low WallGrizz 66,
Despite what the others are saying there is something fishy about your 2.762" long brass..
I am not saying it won't work but I am wondering what brand it is..
I just measured some NIB Hornady brass and it came out 2.929"

Very true Rusty. I have a 338x74K based on the 74R. I get case head seps after 5 relaods using Norma brass. The RWS is quite a bit thicker in the ehad area & I have one test batch going on 8 firings & still look fine.

Grizz 66Low Wall it's Norma, I beleive it's older brass don't know if that helps matters or not. Low Wall I have newer norma brass that messures about the same as your hornady. Like ya said something is up with that other batch of brass I got. Can't complain free is free, but safety first. Again thanx
