Need a price check
There is a Ruger #1 standard in 270 win at my local gun shop with a Burris 3x9 scop on it. It is in 98% & they want $409.00 + tax (8%) Is this a good price?

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

I would say thats better than "Good" providing it is in that condition .

Considering that a used Burris Fullfield may sell for $100, I totally agree with Snowman!

Look like they're trying to give the rifle away!

I'm trying to justify buying it but I just have no need for a 270.

I too was a 270 ignorer,

but as fate would have it a M/S carbine with optics fell into my hands and--
as Boddigton referred to his .264-- I found a laserbeam.

Everything was hit where it was supposed to be hit and fell promptly --

the 270 is nothing to sneeze at--

besides you could always easily re-work it to a 270STW Big Grin

My experience is exactly the opposite from DuggaBoye's, but still exactly the same. Confused

At one time I had 9 30-'06s, and wouldn't have wanted a .270 even for free. thumbdown

But then I got a really, really nice condition Mannlicher-Schoenauer rifle (not carbine) in .270 with a good scope on it. It was "boot" in a trade. Never fired it, didn't like the length and weight of it, or how high the scope was. Mad

So I drove 500 miles straight west & took it the Calgary gunshow in 1975 fishing and traded it straight across for an "as new" pre-'64 M70 FW in .270, also with a good scope on it. At the time the M/S was worth probably at least double the M70 FW in dollars. But I was happy...I was considering having something custom made on the M70 action.

Then I made the mistake of taking that FW hunting.shame

Like Duggaboye says, kills browsers like a 10-million watt laser-proton beam. Eeker

I still have it, now 35 years later. My favourite mule-deer-in-the-rockies gun. And I have bought a .270 Musgrave Mauser as a mate for it, just in case. (Am also down to only 5 '06s.) Nothing wrong with a .270 for ruminants. tu2

BTW, $409 for a Ruger No. 1 in nice shape is not a good buy. It is legalized theft.

My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.
