Long throated European rifles
The old Brnos and Oberndorf Mausers had long throated chambers as I understand. But what about older Mannlicher Schoenauers? A Mannl-Schoen. MC in 9,3x62, for instance? Long throat?
Anyone have a clue?

I have a 1950 and a 1952 in 9.3x62 and both seem to be long throated. The only limit is the magazine, which doesn't allow bullets such as the Barnes 286gr X to be seated out very far.

Thanks. I wonder if the same applies to the 1956 model?

Does deep throated women have the same feature as rifles; can they handle more pressure - hotter loads??

I don't know! I had a '56 in 270 Win., and also a '61 MCA in the same caliber. Both shot 1.25" groups with Nosler 150-grain Partition bullets (old style), but I never even thought to measure their throats. I loaded the ammo to the max. length the magazine would permit, and the bullets DID NOT touch the rifling!

The Brno for instance are on 06 length actions therefore they could utilize the long throated chambering and it was very effective and gave calibers like the 7x57 the ability to compete with the 280 and even the 7mag with factory ammo, not handloaded 7 mag...

But the 9.3x62 is a longer case therefore you can only cut the chamber to match the magazine box!! so it will never have a particularly long throat unless one used a magnum action....

And thats the facts.
